Action Research Update

Action Research
The research has been going pretty well.  I have encountered a few problems.  One of the problems is that I have to get the information from another source to input into the hallwalker system.  I am supposed to receive the information right after school.  Unfortunately, she may not always get it to me before I leave for the day or I may have something planned and I can't stay late to input it.  This is an issue because the date that shows up on the tardy sheet is the date it was inputted.  For example, if a student was tardy on 3/15, if I have to wait until 3/16 to input it, it looks like the student was tardy at 3/16 and the time is going to show up after school hours.  This has been an issue with several parents.

My principal has begun to do after school detention for 1 or 2 hours.  I think this has helped to bring the tardy problem down.  When I first started inputting tardies, I had 17 pages with 10 students on each page.  As of late, I have only had 3 pages.  That is a huge reduction.

  1. That is a huge reduction! We've had to change our routine at my school and although I have a portable building, I have been in the regular hallway for the past 2 weeks. It's amazing how many students are tardy each period, and to which classrooms.

I'm also glad to see someone else pushing forward with their AR. It's been tough, but a real learning experience. I just can't do all the projects that I see that need help, at least not all at the same time. I sure wish there were others at my school doing AR. Good luck and I'll be keeping up with your progress.

    1. Thanks for the response. It is a huge reduction. The research project is time consuming, as well as it can easily get placed on the back burner with everything esle going on in school as well as with other classes. Stay encouraged with yours as well.
